This part is an extremely common failure point. The B48 engine also suffers the same failure. The factory designed critical cooling system components cannot withstand the high temperatures the engine runs at, leading to failure within just a few years. This fitting distributes coolant from the engine block to the heat management module.
Our product is cast from 6061 aluminum, ensuring extremely long-term reliability. Additionally, the mating surface is given a rough finish to ensure proper adhesion. Roughness imparts additional surface area with which the adhesive can make contact when forming a bond. A rough surface provides additional mechanical interlocking at the interface. Irregularities on the surface may mitigate crack propagation, enabling stronger, more fatigue-resistant bonds. Our product does not use an o-ring to seal like the factory part. We wanted to ensure we eliminate all failure points, not just one. We include Victor Reinz Reinzosil, a permanently elastic, universal silicone RTV sealing compound with excellent resistance to fluids and extreme temperatures to create the seal. Ensure to clean the engine block mating surface to prevent any leaks.
*Slight blemishes on the mounting surface will not affect the ability to seal. The sealant is taller than the blemishes. Also, sometimes the box for the sealant will have exterior damage due to being packaged with the flange. The sealant itself is not affected and should not call for concern. Additionally, please remember these units are cast. Therefore, slight surface imperfections are to be expected. Each unit is inspected before shipment to ensure high quality standards.
It is also a good idea to replace 17128616548. The plastic for the connectors will be degraded just like this part.
